Our History
Background Information
Women Action towards Entrepreneurship Development (WATED) is formed by a group of dynamic profession who received trained by the Michigan State University and funded by US Department of States. The group is trained on issues of employment, finance management, Legal matters, health matters, and information technology. Our main aim is to foster within the Women Economic Empowerment Programs of Tanzania with a greater sense of responsibility to the matters pertaining access to entrepreneurship information, mentorship on starting business programs, Advocacy on Health issues, Employment and Legal matters. With an aim of completing efforts of the Government and other Civil Societies and Developing Partners for the benefit of all people of Tanzania.
The organization’s Executive Committee and Board of Advisors, comprised of a team of experts within Tanzania and advisors. WATED also works with friends and colleagues across the globe who resonates with our mission, vison, goals and values. These experts support to shape policies, systems and programs of the organization.
Broad Objectives
The Organization’s main objective is to advocate for women, youth and children rights in the Country. This is done with a goal of completing government efforts to curb harmful practices that hinder fully realization rights in particular women and children rights in rural and peripherals of the city.
The Organization in enhancing the full realization of women and children rights. This is conducted through theory and practice. Thus our work with beneficiaries is capacity building, awareness raising and advocacy activities.
Our activities are National and International Human Rights Campaigns to advocate access to Justice and legal Aid, Climate Change climate financing and Gender inclusion; Gender Based Violence, Gender Equality, Legal and Human Rights Education.
Our approach is to work with stakeholders to ensure communities are equally participating and engaged in programs and activities which promote and protects their rights. That, duty bearers and rights holders are accorded a space. Women and girls are engaged in programs and activities and ensuring their voices are held and acted upon.
Our activities are conducted by ensuring women’s agency. Additionally, women, children and youth are the pillar of our activities with inclusivity of boys and men as stipulated in international, regional and domestic legal frameworks, programs and policies. Thus, our projects and activities includes beneficiaries to form part of planning and implementation of projects. This allows us to think, reflects adopt and accommodates interest of beneficiaries in the project implementation.
